Elijah Edwards

Elijah Edwards is a junior at the University of Connecticut, majoring in both psychology and sociology. He has been involved with several research labs in the psychological and sociological fields. During the 2024-2025 academic year, he was an undergraduate researcher with SHARP labs, and over the summer, he received a paid apprenticeship with clinical psychologist Prof. Sherry Pagoto, under whom he is continuing to work in Fall 2025. Elijah first found an interest in psychology during high school, though he didn’t find his passion for sociology until coming to UConn. In his eyes, sociology provides the context for psychology, so he was fascinated by how the two disciplines interact. To get a better understanding of this interplay, Elijah has joined the Health Professions, Health Care, and Social Inequality Lab led by Prof. Fumilayo Showers. Through his work, he hopes to garner a greater understanding of our society and the individuals, cultures, and communities that give it life.
